Hockey Alchemy — Player Lookup is a toolbar popup that lets you search for an NHL player and view their public analytics (GAR, tier, percentile, and contract value) sourced from hockeyalchemy.com. It can also highlight NHL player names on the web pages you read so you can hover for those same stats.
To underline player names, the extension reads the visible text of a page and compares it — entirely on your device — against a list of NHL player names. This happens automatically on a small set of hockey websites (NHL.com, EliteProspects, Daily Faceoff, PuckPedia, Hockey-Reference) and on any other page only when you click “Highlight players on this page” in the popup.
None that identifies you. We do not collect names, email addresses, location, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information. There is no account and no sign-in. The extension does not collect or store your IP address; like any website, the Hockey Alchemy API receives standard request information (including IP) when it serves player data, and this is not used to identify or track you.
To show a “Recent” list for convenience, the extension saves the names and
IDs of players you have recently looked up using Chrome’s
storage.local API. This data:
When you search for or open a player, the extension makes read-only requests
to the public Hockey Alchemy API at https://www.hockeyalchemy.com
to fetch that player’s public statistics. These requests contain only the
search text or player you selected — no personal identifiers. No data is sent
to any other domain.
storage — to save your recent searches and a cached copy of the
public NHL player list locally on your device.
activeTab — lets the extension read and highlight the page you’re
on only after you click “Highlight players on this page” (or open the
side panel). It’s granted for that one tab on your click and is never used in
the background. The extension does not request access to all your websites.
hockeyalchemy.com — so the extension can fetch
public player statistics from the Hockey Alchemy API.
scripting — to inject the highlighter into the page you scan.
sidePanel — to show the optional side panel listing the players
detected on the page you’re viewing. It displays only public stats and stores
nothing about you.
We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or any third-party services. We do not sell or share data, because we do not collect it.
The extension is a general-audience sports tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
If the extension adds features that change how data is handled, this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date above revised. Material changes will be reflected in the extension’s store listing.
